ABOUT US
Jack & Jill Nursery Schools have been leaders in providing high-quality childcare for over 30 years, when our doors opened in downtown Flushing in the fall of 1973. We now service the busy downtown Flushing, Bayside, Fresh Meadows, Jamaica Estates and surrounding areas in Queens. We provide a nurturing learning environment for over 300 children each year. We are proud to boast that our second school location, Jack & Jill II, opened by popular demand in 1996.

Jack & Jill Nursery Schools are licensed by the New York City Department of Health to operate in both Flushing and Fresh Meadows and provide full child care services for children two to five years of age.

We offer a full day program, and our hours of operation are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Children can attend school five days, three days, or two days a week, with part-time enrollment being subject to availability. We have a total of seven classrooms (7200 square feet) at our downtown Flushing location and a brand new state of the art outdoor playground. We have four classrooms (3500 square feet) and an indoor play area at our Fresh Meadow location. All children in the school are grouped by age.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
The phrase "learning by doing" reflects our innovative approach to early childhood development. We offer children a structured and predictable program at each age level. Every aspect of our program is dedicated to encouraging children's creativity and promoting their confidence as learners.

OUR CURRICULUM
At Jack & Jill we recognize that children learn best when they take an active role in the learning process. We have developed a well-rounded, child-centered curriculum designed for teachers to implement in guiding the children in hands-on learning experiences. Activities are structured yet stimulating and are created separately for each age group according to the children's abilities and developmental needs. Daily lessons are enhanced with important visits from our local firefighters, a dental hygienist, music and movement specialists and petting zoos, to name just a few.

Jack & Jill understands that solid reading skills are essential to academic success, and is committed to providing preschool children with pre-reading and pre-writing developmental skills. Classrooms are designed and arranged with this idea in mind using a whole language approach to emergent readers and writers.

In addition Jack & Jill helps children learn to appreciate literature, to speak and to write well, to follow directions, to solve problems and to cooperate in groups. The children will explore these early concepts through indirect teaching techniques designed to foster their self-esteem, confidence and natural curiosity about the world around them. We nurture creativity and spark imagination.

***GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAM READINESS***
All Jack & Jill students are assessed in house and prepared for the NYC Gifted and Talented Program which is administered and made available when the children are 4--5 years of age by the New York City Department of Education. We are very proud of those graduates who have gone on to Gifted and Talented Schools within the borough of Queens.

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM

Children as young as 2 and as mature as 7 are welcomed back to enjoy our Summer Programs.|Summer activities include indoor and outdoor fun, arts & crafts, creative movement and dance, as well as weekly visits by specialized outreach programs and special events which include:
